Digital tools for small
Defense contractors.
You won the contract. Now you have to manage it. We build custom software for small DoD primes and subs — program management, compliance, proposal ops — without the price tag of enterprise GovCon software.
Small contractors don't need Deltek. They need the right tool for the job.
If you run a small Defense business, you've probably hit some version of this:
- You're tracking earned value in a spreadsheet that nobody trusts — and your CDRL is due Friday.
- Your IMS lives in MS Project, your risk register lives in Excel, and your status report lives in someone's head.
- CMMC is coming. You've read NIST 800-171 three times. You still don't have an audit-ready answer for half the controls.
- You manage subcontractors over email. Flow-down clauses get lost. ODCs go unbilled.
- Your proposal team rebuilds the same capability statement and past-performance write-up every cycle.
Enterprise tools (Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, Procas) solve real problems — for companies five times your size. We build software sized for your shop: focused, fast to deploy, and cheap to run.
Four things, done well.
Program Management Dashboards
Lightweight EVM, IMS-style schedule views, risk registers, status reporting. Real metrics from real data — not just a Gantt chart pasted into PowerPoint.
Compliance & Audit Tooling
CMMC 2.0 readiness dashboards, NIST 800-171 control mapping, evidence collection, access logging. Your assessor walks in and you have the artifacts ready.
Proposal & Past-Performance Ops
Capture libraries, color-team workflows, capability-statement generators, PPQ tracking. Stop rebuilding the same content for every RFP.
Subcontract & Teaming Portals
Sub onboarding, flow-down clause tracking, ODC submission, teaming-agreement and NDA management. One source of truth for your prime/sub relationships.
Built by someone who's actually run a DoD program.
Clearpath Digital is run by Stephen Schwedhelm — a Defense Contract Program Manager turned software developer with hands-on experience managing cost, schedule, risk, and subcontractor performance on DoD programs.
That matters when you're picking a software partner. Most app studios can build a CRUD app. Far fewer understand what a WBS dictionary is, why your CDRL submittals matter, or what "prime negotiating with PCO over termination liability" actually means for the schedule.
Frequently asked.
Do you build CMMC-compliant software?
We build software that supports your CMMC posture — access controls, audit logging, encrypted storage of CUI, MFA, and documentation that maps to NIST SP 800-171 controls. We are not a CMMC C3PAO; we build the tooling that makes assessment easier.
Do you handle FedRAMP, IL4, or IL5 hosting?
For workloads that need an authorized environment we deploy to AWS GovCloud or Azure Government. For most small-business CUI workloads, a properly configured commercial cloud with the right contractual and technical controls is appropriate.
What size companies do you typically work with?
Our sweet spot is small Defense businesses from $1M to $50M in annual revenue — too small for Deltek Costpoint, too constrained for a full ERP rollout, but big enough that spreadsheets are starting to break.
Can you integrate with WAWF, IPP, or SAM.gov?
Yes. We've built workflows around WAWF/iRAPT submission, IPP invoice tracking, and SAM.gov / DSBS data. Where official APIs are limited, we automate the parts that can be automated and surface the rest in dashboards.
How do you price?
Fixed-price discovery, then fixed-price phases for build. We quote in dollars and weeks, not hours. For most small contractors, an MVP launches in 6–10 weeks.
